Chelsea are said to be interested in bringing Manchester City defender John Stones for £20million transfer fee. [The Mirror]

The former Everton defender have been attracting the interest of some Premier league sides like Arsenal, Everton and West Ham, with the latter were reportedly planning to lodge a £20million offer for the 25-year-old England international centre-back, who’s having a torrid period at Manchester City.

Stones have been one of the few fringe players, who are looking likely to leave the Citizens this summer, considering his limited game time and a lack of trust shown by the manager Pep Guardiola.

The 25-year-old looks destined to get his career back on track elsewhere, as his continued omission from the starting lineup keeps persisting.

Chelsea, on the other hand, lack quality and experience in their backline. Looking at how easy the Bundesliga Champions Bayern Munich were able to penetrate into their defense during their round of 16 UEFA Champions league encounter, Frank Lampard will surely be eager to make some quality additions to his defense at earnest.

With the likelihood of signing John Stones from Manchester City, Chelsea will be having a young, talented and experienced defender, who has amassed over 300 professional games since making his senior debut with Everton, under David Moyes.

Considering his urge for a regular playing time and his hope of being included in England’s team for the European competition, John Stones would undoubtedly grab the opportunity to make a move away from the Etihad Stadium this summer, which would in turn, give the Blues the opportunity to sign him.
