As per Spanish outlet Catalan Sport, it was claimed that the Gunners have agreed personal terms with Barcelona’s outcast Philippe Coutinho ahead of an imminent loan move to the Emirates this summer.
The Brazilian attacking midfielder have been declared surplus to requirement and subsequently been made available this summer as Barcelona looks to free atleast half of his wages off their payroll.
Philippe Coutinho’s future have being the subject of interest amid uncertainties surrounding his stay at the Nou Camp.
Barcelona have been keen on cutting down their wage bill in other to cope with the pandemic crisis and they’ve in turn placed some of their players on transfer list.
Coutinho joined the Catalan side in January 2018 for a club record fee that’s worth around €160million, making him the world’s second most expensive player.
His dismal performances with the Catalan side and at Bayern Munich has made his career looking more appalling and on a downhill, against his great performances that led to his club record signing in 2018.
Coutinho’s agent Kia, has reportedly been in contact with some clubs who have expressed their interest in the Brazilian’s services but his high wage demand has dented any hope of securing his services by other suitors.
It has given the Gunners greater possibility to finalise his deal, considering their own intent to reduce their wage bill as well.
With Coutinho’s agent being the one in charge of David Luiz and Arsenal’s prospective signing Willian’s transfer, Coutinho’s future looks to lie at the Emirates next season, if the Gunners can conclude the remaining part of the deal as soon as possible.
