According to Foot Mercato reports, former Arsenal manager Unai Emery is interested in signing the 21-year-old midfielder who has reportedly been placed on transfer list.
The new Villareal manager Unai Emery was in charge of Arsenal when Guendouzi was signed from Lorient and the youngster enjoyed much playing time under the manager, forming a partnership alongside Granit Xhaka.
The French youth international midfielder has recently lost his place in the team, after some disciplinary issues saw him fall out of favour with Mikel Arteta. The latest incident against Brighton where the youngster was seen holding Maupay’s throat and behaving in an unprofessional manner, has made the youngster to be completely frozen out of the team, while it’s believed that the 21-yrs-old midfielder has since been training separately from the first team.
Without the need to hold on to an indiscipline player, according to some reports, Arsenal had intended to include Guendouzi in a part-exchange with Barcelona player, which will see out of favour Philippe Coutinho going the other direction, but Standard Sport believes that Barcelona are not interested in taking the Frenchman.
The youngster have been valued at around €30-€35million, which looks considerably decent for the France youth international midfielder, who was signed for a reported fee worth around £7 million from Lorient in 2018 summer transfer window.
Arsenal are currently seeking a way to reduce their wage bill so as to enhance their chance of making quality additions during this summer. They’ve reportedly placed some of their stars like Elneny, Mkhytarian, Sokratis, Holding and Lacazette on transfer list.
Villarreal’s interest in Matteo Guendouzi will surely be a great news to Arsenal’s management and a possible agreement for the youngster’s signature could be reach soonest, if the La Liga side Villarreal are able to table a mouthwatering offer for the talented midfielder.
