Arsenal have reportedly joined the chase for the in-demand Aston Villa captain Jack Grealish ahead of the 2020/21 campaign.

The Gunners are reported to have registered an interest in the highly rated midfielder but are yet to follow up on their enquiry.

Manchester United and a number of Premier League clubs have also been said to be in the run for Grealish, who helped Aston Villa to escape relegation from the top-flight on the last day of the season.

Villa have insisted that they have no plans of letting go off their skipper and would not be bullied into allowing him to leave in the summer for anything less than £80 million.

Mikel Arteta and his side will suffer a reduction in their summer transfer budget after failing to secure Champions League qualification, while their chances of playing in the Europa League also depend on winning the FA Cup final against Chelsea on Saturday.

The ongoing coronavirus pandemic is also likely to play a role in the financial constraints of many clubs, which Arsenal are likely to be a part of.

The 24-year-old still has three years left on his current deal at Villa Park, and has been tipped to make a move one of the top clubs in the division.

Had Villa suffered relegation from the Premier League, the probability that Grealish would have been sold for less the valuation of the club was very high, but their survival means they are likely to play a hardball with potential suitors in the transfer window.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side are reported to have cooled their interest in Grealish have been priced out by Dean Smith’s side with their attentions now focused on Jadon Sancho.

Grealish is hoping that regular football in the Premier League could be key to securing a place in Gary Southgate’s team for next year’s European Championships.
