Manchester United are reportedly on course to dish out a further £9 million in the next few weeks to Sporting Lisbon for Bruno Fernandes.
The fee is in addition to certain clauses which was added to the deal to bring the Portugal international to the Premier League.
Fernandes signed for Man United in the January transfer window for a fee in the region of £42 million after failing to secure a move the transfer window before the winter window. The midfielder has had a big influence at Old Trafford where he has become a key part of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s plans since arriving. However per reports in Portugal from A Bola, United may end up paying a total transfer fee of £67 million should all clauses in the deal be met.
A pay of £4.5 million to Sporting is first in line for the English club, which would be for 20 appearances that the 25-year-old will make at the club. He is currently two away from that mark having already made 18 appearances across all competitions for the Red Devils.
Once Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side qualify for next season’s Champions League, the Portuguese club are also expected to receive another £4.5 million. United are looking likely to make it into the Champions League for the 2020/21 season having seen Leicester City fumble in their attempts to take points from Tottenham over the weekend. Their loss means that they are level on points and goals with the Manchester club who have a game in hand to play against West Ham United on Wednesday.
A further £14m will be for the individual prizes that the midfielder has won since he joined the club.
With Bruno’s 18 games played so far, United have only lost once with that coming in the FA Cup semi-final tie against Chelsea at Wembley Stadium on Sunday – losing by a 1-3 scoreline with Fernandes converting from the penalty spot after the Blues had already struck three times.
