Jude Bellingham has reportedly left for Germany to undergo his Borussia Dortmund medical ahead of an imminent move in the summer.

Birmingham City midfielder is set to join Lucien Favre’s side for the 2020/21 Bundesliga campaign. The Championship side will receive a fee of around £26 million for the 17-year-old who had not signed a professional contract with the Blues yet.

Dortmund are said to have kept an eye on Bellingham for a quite a number of years now, with competition coming from top European clubs such as Chelsea, Bayern Munich and Manchester United.

The Black and Yellows’ ability to develop and nurture young talent looks to have been the key in persuading the England Under-17 international into choosing the Signal Iduna Park despite the stiff competition they faced.

Christian Pulisic, Ilkay Gundogan, Achraf Hakimi, Jadon Sancho and recently Erling Braut Haaland and Giovanni Reyna are young talents who have been given the chance to excellence with the Bundesliga outfit.

Bellingham is expected to finish the remainder of the Championship season at the St Andrews Stadium, and is in the squad to face Fulham on Saturday.

The bosses at Old Trafford will quite be disappointed with the teenager’s decision, considering he was given a tour around the club’s training facilities earlier in the year. United were reported to also have made it possible for the youngster to meet legendary manager Sir Alex Ferguson as they looked to ward off interest from the Bundesliga side.

Lucien Favre’s side on the other hand were also desperate to poach the exciting midfielder from the Championship club, but first needed to get United out of their way.

At age 17, it is no surprise that he had a number of top clubs to choose with the clubs aware of the potential he possesses. The report also goes on to claim the midfielder has put pen to paper on a five-year deal which will see Bellingham pocket around €3 million a year in wages at the Signal Iduna Park.

The addition of Bellingham would be a boost for Dortmund who are said to be considering the summer sale of a number of their stars in the midfield department.
