It had been speculated that Leicester City are considering lunching a bid for Arsenal’s left back Kieran Tierney amidst Chelsea and Manchester City’s interest in the Foxes’ left back Ben Chilwell, who’s being valued at around £75 million.
Chelsea are believed to have made up their mind to allow Emerson leave the club this summer, which leaves Marcos Alonso as the only senior natural left back.
While Manchester City have been looking forward to signing a more consistent left back who’s familiar with the league and it’s intensity. Considering that their first choice left back is having a torrid campaign, with his constant injury woes and inconsistent performances.
Even though Zinchenko had featured at the left back in Mendy’s absence, Pep Guardiola’s team still looks to be lacking a natural left back, capable of displacing Mendy and bringing in stability at the backline.
Both Chelsea and City have identified Ben Chilwell has their best option which has now alerted the Foxes to be preparing for life after the England international left back.
With Brendan Rodgers previously working with Kieran Tierney at Celtic, the manager obviously have a good knowledge of the Scottish quality and what he’s capable of adding to the team.
Within Tierney’s few months at Arsenal, he has really made a lot of impression at the club. His commitment, hardwork and talent has been highly recognised and commended by the manager, fans and even his teammates.
With such talent at Arsenal’s disposal after finally having a capable left back who has the quality to compensate the fans and the team for the sale of former Gunner Nacho Monreal, Mikel Arteta has immediately come out to dismiss the speculations surrounding Kieran Tierney’s future.
Stating his intention to continue to work with the brilliant left back for many years to come.
“He’s not going anywhere,” Arteta said. “I really like him. I’m very impressed him. Everybody loves him at the club and he earns that every single day with the way he treats people, the way he works and the energy he brings to the place.
“And then with his performances, I am delighted. He has adapted really well, he is a player that gives you everything in every session and every game. And the quality he has added as well.
“He’s still so young, he has things to improve obviously but he’s been a great addition to the team. He had a really difficult period because of the injury, because he moved to a different city and to a different context,”
“In Glasgow he was at a club that was winning all the time where he was very settled. It was a challenge for him and he’s been dealing with that in the best possible way, with some difficulties.
“He needed the club to support him, he needed his team-mates to make life easier for him and we all tried to help him. But you help him with pleasure because of what he brings and how willing he is all the time to work and improve.”
Mikel Arteta’s quick intervention pertaining to Tierney’s future has shown that the Scottish professional left back his highly regarded and appreciated at the club.
And the fans need not to worry about losing one of their brightest gem. Not anytime soon!!
