AFC Bournemouth host Leicester City at the Vitality Stadium in the final game of the week in the Premier League.

Relegation-threatened Bournemouth are 18th in the Premier League this season and are three points behind West Ham and Watford. They have just 28 points this season so far from 34 games. Leicester City, on the other side, are forth in the league table with 59 points. They are just one point behind third-placed Chelsea.

Both teams face off tomorrow and both need a positive result from the game. A loss or a draw could down Bournemouth. Anything without three points will be a negative result for Champions League hopefuls Leicester City.

Can the Cherries’ surprise Leicester’s Champions League hope?

It is hard to judge a team from its performances before the pandemic as teams got enough time to rest and prepare for the comeback. So, let’s analyse Bournemouth’s performances since the restart.

The Cherries lost four consecutive games since the restart. They recently played out a goalless draw against Tottenham at home. It was their first point in more than four months. Below are Bournemouth’s stats since restart:

Matches5
Wins-
Losses4
Draws1
Goals scored (home)1
Goals scored (away)2
Goals conceded (home)6
Goals conceded (away)6

This means that Eddie Howe’s side have been equally poor in both home and away games. As fans are not allowed in the stadium, they won’t have any support from the behind as well. So it’s really tough to predict a win for Bournemouth.

Now let’s analyse Leicester City’s performances post-restart. The Foxes have been brilliant since Brendan Rodgers’ appointment last season. This season they have stayed in the top four for a long time and have a good chance of qualifying for next season’s Champions League.

But they have been struggling since the restart and have registered just one win from five PL fixtures. Their only win since resumption came against Crystal Palace at home. Below are Leicester’s stats since the restart of the competition:

Matches5
Wins1
Losses1
Draws3
Goals scored (home)3
Goals scored (away)3
Goals conceded (home)-
Goals conceded (away)4

Leicester City have failed to win a single Premier League games since their 3-0 win over Newcastle on the New Year eve. They have lost twice ad drew thrice in away games since them. Their poor away form has been the same since the resumption of the Premier League.

Bournemouth will do their best to even gain a point out of this game and Leicester will be desperate for a win. A draw can ruin Leicester’s hope as Manchester United are just one point behind and may capitalise from the situation. Ole’s United face Southampton at home and have a good chance of grabbing all three points. Considering Leicester’s poor away form, it’s hard to predict a win for the Foxes. We predict a draw at the Vitality Stadium, which would dent their Champions League hopes.
