Leicester City score give past Newcastle as Liverpool and Manchester City continue the battle for the top spot.
The Reds began week seven with a slim 1-0 win over Sheffield United at Bramall Lane. A 70th minute strike from Georginio Wijnaldum ensured Jurgen Klopp’s side are currently on a 16 matches winning streak.
Tottenham managed to beat Southampton narrowly with a 2-1 scoreline. The game saw in-form right-back Serge Aurier taking red card, with Tanguy Ndombele and Harry Kane among the goals.
Considering the recent form of Spurs going into the game, Southampton caused a lot of problems but Pochettino’s men kept their cool and scrap past the men from the south coast.
Wolverhampton Wanderers also picked up their first win of the season by beating Watford 2-0. The match played at the Molineux saw Wolves score in each half with the second goal coming from a Daryl Janmaat own goal.
That should bring a sign of relief to Nuno Espirito Santo who face Manchester City before the international break.
Frank Lampard secured his first home win as Chelsea manager on Saturday. The Blues defeated Brighton and Hove Albion by two goals to nil as Jorginho and Willian found the back of the net. The result also meant that shot-stopper Kepa Arrizabalaga has managed his first clean sheet of the Premier League campaign.
A 3-1 victory over Everton at Goodison Park pushed Manchester City back to within five points behind leaders Liverpool. Riyad Mahrez continues to shine as the Algeria international scored from a free-kick. Raheem Sterling, returning back into the set-up was on target as Pep’s side cruised to victory.
Manchester United and Arsenal played out a 1-1 draw on Monday night at Old Trafford. The Red Devils took the lead on the stroke of half time through a counter-attack. Marcus Rashford played a pass into the path of Paul Pogba who failed to collect, with Scott McTominay picking up the pieces and finishing off in style.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scored after the recess as he turned a pass from teenage sensation, Bukayo Saka into a goal but his strike was ruled out initially for offside. Referee Kevin Friend rescinded his decision and gave a goal after checks from the VAR, drawing Arsenal level.
The game ended with both sides picking a point each which leaves Manchester United at 10th with nine points.
