Aston Villa academy graduate Jack Grealish has been an excellent player for the struggling team this season. The Englishman has scored seven and assisted six goals in the Premier League this season.
The 24-year-old has been linked to a transfer to Old Trafford all season and a deal could happen as Villa look set to go down to the Championship next season. Villa sit 18th in the table, four points away from safety and face tough competition like Everton, Arsenal and Manchester United in their final fixtures.
The Red Devils are on the lookout for a rotational creative midfielder and the Aston Villa captain seems the perfect choice. At the moment, Bruno Fernandes has started almost every game since joining and cannot be benched as United do not have the quality on the bench who could replace such an important player. Jack Grealish has the excellent vision, creativity and skills to replace Fernandes when he is unavailable. He fits the perfect United persona as he has the perfect mentality and has been one of the players targeted by Graeme Souness’ unnecessary criticism.
An in-form Manchester United travel to Villa Park on Thursday. Villa have not won any of their last 10 games in all competitions and face a stern test at home. United on the other hand have not lost a game since January 22 and remain unbeaten in 16 games in all competitions.
Jack Grealish has been praised previously by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer who is evidently an admirer of the player. The Englishman also scored a beautiful goal from outside the box in the reverse fixture at Old Trafford which ended as a 2-2 draw. Solskjaer has also pointed out Grealish as an evident threat for United in his latest pre-match conference.
It is one of the most important games for Grealish if he wants to impress the United fans and their boss. Even if he fails to score, he must put out a good enough performance for Villa to salvage something from the game to keep their survival hopes alive. Villa, if they go down, will consider selling their most prized possession and United will be the main contenders interested. So, Grealish will have to put on his best performance tomorrow if he wants to seal a move to Manchester United.
