Some speculations as it that Chelsea are willing to let go of their midfield powerhouse N’Golo Kante as he’s seen not to fit into Frank Lampard’s style of play.
Since joining from former Premier league Champion Leicester City, Kante has being a solid rock and an ever present in Chelsea’s midfield, helping them to Premier league title in his first season at Chelsea. He has featured prominently under previous managers like Antonio Conte and Maurizio Sarri.
His defensive contributions, aggression, energy and tenacity from the midfield has always been an advantage to Chelsea. With Frank Lampard favoring Jorginho in a more deeper role and the improvement in Kovacic performance has seen Kante’s game time unusually limited coupled with his injury woes this season.
With rumours going round about Kante’s possible departure in order to have enough cash to fund other potential transfer, Chelsea’s manager Frank Lampard has now debunked such speculation and has instead made it clear that he wants N’Golo Kante to remain at Chelsea and denied the midfielder could be sold this summer.
Chelsea has already confirmed two quality signings, spending around £83 – 89 million on Timo Werner and Hakim Ziyech, while the Blues are reportedly still pressing ahead with moves for Leicester’s left back Ben Chilwell and Leverkusen’s playmaker Kai Havertz. Those signings may require to be funded by player sales but Chelsea’s manager does not want to lose Kante anytime soon.
The Chelsea manager said: “I have seen some talks and reports about him and his future at the club. I have said it a lot of times about N’Golo, he is one of the best midfield players in the world and I would have loved to have played with him, the type of player he is, he has everything.
“Coming back to Chelsea and getting the opportunity to manage this club and having N’Golo here is something I want to work with and appreciate. This season, unfortunately because of injuries, it has been tough for him. It is nice to see him fresh.
“One of the silver linings of this has been we have been able to get a few players fitter and fresher. N’Golo is so important to us as a team going forward that we need him regularly, and hopefully we will have that now.”
