Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is hoping Bruno Fernandes’ partnership with Anthony Martial can spark the forward to complete his best season at the club.
Since his arrival to the club in January, Bruno has become a fan favourite with his impressive performances getting fans mesmerised.
The Portuguese provided the assist for Martial for the first goal in the Manchester derby before the lockdown with a well-timed free-kick.
The Frenchman has scored 16 goals across all competitions for the Red Devils in the current campaign prior to the halting of the season. He is one shy of his personal best tally of 17 goals in his maiden season in England under Louis van Gaal.
And his manager is hoping that he can surpass that tally and enjoy a magnificent season.
“Well Anthony’s had a difficult season with injuries but he started the season really well and he’s finishing off…well the season’s not finished yet… but he did really well towards the end,” Solskjaer told Premier League Productions, via Metro Sport.
“He’s working hard and for me Anthony was on the way to his best season at Manchester United. so lets see if he finishes it off and kicks on again.”
Solksjaer also commended the link up between the Portuguese and the Frenchman as he hopes their partnership can flourish.
“Tony and Bruno have hit it off together so it’s a partnership that we hope can flourish,” he continued.
“We knew he was a quality player and knew that when he came in he would have an impact straight away but you never know if he’s going to settle early in a new country but he’s taken to it like a duck to water.”
Manchester United will return to Premier League action on June 19, away to Tottenham Hotspur.
