Soualiho Meite: Scout Report | Crystal Palace & Southampton transfer target

Former France youth international and Torino’s midfielder Meite, was born in Paris. Meïté had his formative years at AJ Auxerre before joining another French league side Lille in January 2013 for a reported transfer fee of £1.28 million.

The midfielder has represented his nation at Under-16, Under-17 and Under-20 level. He was among France Under-17 team at the 2011 FIFA U-17 World Cup.

The 26-year-old midfielder also holds Ivorian nationality and still eligible to represent the African nation but he had once rejected the chance to represent Ivory Coast. Although a second chance or a change of heart might now be realistic due to his inability to get a call-up to France senior national team.

Monaco-Meïté

After impressing at Monaco, Meïté was signed by Italian club Torino in a swap deal with Monaco’s full-back Antonio Barreca, who moved to the other direction.

Meite is a powerful and energetic midfielder. Standing at 6ft 2in tall, he possess exceptional aerial prowess and an ability to turn things around with his dribbles and intelligent through balls.

In his maiden season with Torino, Meite made an impressive contribution, hereby, cementing his place in the team, as he became a mainstay in the team, playing 25 league games with two goals and two assists to his name.

Meite has been in fine form for Torino this season, contributing two assists in 21 league appearances. The energetic midfielder has continuously being an ever-present in the side, and is form has definitely enthralled the attention of big teams.

Soualiho-Meite

Tottenham were formerly interested in the service of the 26-year-old midfielder, as he was being identified as a replacement, capable of filling the void that was left by Belgian international Dembele, who left White Hart Lane for Chinese Super league side.

Now, according to reports, Crystal Palace and Southampton are believed to be keen on signing the 26-year-old midfielder in order to boost their squad against next season. Both English clubs have been said to have limited funds available for summer transfer, but both clubs are said to have made the France youth international midfielder their primary target for this summer transfer, as he’s seen as a player who can fit in well in the Premier league.

Obviously, if Meite could adjust to the Premier league quickly, he’ll undoubtedly add tenacity, power and a fresh approach in the middle of the park for any of the Premier league side he ends up with.
