Schalke youngster Weston McKennie has insisted that he has his eyes set on a move to go to a Premier League club that is competitive enough at some point in his career.
The Schalke midfielder was signed from FC Dallas’ youth side but has not found any difficulty breaking into the first team of the club. The 19-time capped US international has already become regular for the Bundesliga outfit after just a season.
The player made his first appearance for the 2011 German Cup winners in a 1-1 draw with Ingolstadt in May 2017, coming on as a substitute.
The 21-year-old has since become an important player in Schalke’s set up has almost three full seasons to him name but has already set a Premier League target for himself in the near future.
“For me, the next goal is England. It has always been my dream to play in the Premier League,” the Schalke midfielder expressed in an exclusive interview with Goal and DAZN.
“I want to join a club that fights for a place in Europe – the Champions League or the Europa League. For now, I’m happy at Schalke because I get to play.”
In the current campaign, McKennie has made a total of 24 appearances for the club, scoring one and laying on an assist.
