West Ham United were reportedly interested in Yves Bissouma, with sources indicating that Tottenham and West Ham even discussed a blockbuster loan swap involving Lucas Paqueta. The two clubs held initial talks regarding a straight loan swap. However, discussions did not progress beyond the preliminary stages.

Ultimately, Bissouma, who Tottenham acquired for £25m, has agreed to join Galatasaray on loan. The agreement includes an obligation to buy. Meanwhile, Tottenham are monitoring the situation with Paqueta. Currently, there are no active plans to pursue a deal for the Brazilian.

Spurs manager seeks versatile midfielder

Tottenham signed Mohammed Kudus from West Ham this summer. Consequently, acquiring another one of their key players could be complicated. The Spurs manager has been looking to recruit an energetic midfielder for the number ten role. Morgan Gibbs-White was initially the primary target for the position.

However, Gibbs-White signed a new contract with Nottingham Forest. As a result, Spurs have been searching for alternatives. Paqueta could be a suitable alternative to the England international. He is capable of fulfilling multiple roles in midfield.

The Brazilian is known for his skill and ability to carry the ball. Furthermore, he contributes significantly off the ball. These attributes would be highly valued. Currently, Pape Matar Sarr has been deployed in the number ten role. However, Paqueta could be an ideal fit for that position.

The focus now shifts to Yves Bissouma’s move to Galatasaray and whether Tottenham will reignite their interest in Lucas Paqueta in the future. The coming weeks will reveal whether Tottenham will make any further moves in the transfer market to strengthen their midfield options.
