TBR Football reports that Eberechi Eze is pleased after Arsenal agreed a deal to sign him, beating Tottenham Hotspur to his signature. The Crystal Palace midfielder was seemingly on the verge of joining Tottenham after the two clubs reached an agreement. However, Arsenal’s late entry into the race changed the situation.

The Gunners have reportedly matched the £68 million offer that Tottenham had put on the table for Eze. As things stand, Eze is expected to play for Crystal Palace in their Conference League match against Fredrikstad on Thursday. TBR Football’s chief correspondent, Graeme Bailey, understands that Arsenal and Crystal Palace have agreed on terms for the transfer of Eberechi Eze.

According to reports, Eze had agreed to join Tottenham Hotspur and even spoke with Thomas Frank when it seemed Arsenal would not make a move for him. However, following Kai Havertz’s knee injury, Arsenal acted quickly. TBR can confirm that a deal of around £68 million has been agreed to sign Eze.

The England international is reportedly “really excited” to join Arsenal. It was his preferred destination from the start, as he always favored the Gunners over other interested clubs. Bailey told TBR that Arsenal have agreed terms with Palace, matching the £68 million that Tottenham were willing to pay. The final details involved payment terms, which have now been settled.

Eze is expected to feature for Crystal Palace on Thursday before undergoing a medical at Arsenal on Friday. Bailey added that Eze is really excited, as the situation has unfolded as he desired. Arsenal was always Eze’s first choice. The main concern was that they viewed him primarily as a number 10. The injury to Kai Havertz changed Arsenal’s plans.

Arsenal have already invested heavily in this transfer window, and the England international is now poised to become their biggest signing of the summer. With the deal set at £68 million, he is also set to become Arsenal’s third-most expensive signing of all time, surpassing Havertz and Martin Zubimendi.

Arsenal’s next Premier League game is against Leeds United, but it is unlikely that Eze will be in the squad for that match. His medical is scheduled for Friday. If the deal proceeds as expected, he should make his debut against Liverpool in the final game of this month.
