Premier League clubs Leeds United and West Ham United are reportedly interested in Artem Dovbyk. The AS Roma striker may prefer a move back to Spain, however. Roma’s asking price of €40 million could also prove a stumbling block for any potential deal.

According to Corriere della Sera, AS Roma’s €40 million valuation of Artem Dovbyk is causing concern for Leeds United and West Ham United. The Ukrainian international may not favor a transfer to England. A return to Spain could be his preference if he leaves the Italian club.

Artem Dovbyk had a quiet first season with Roma after arriving from Girona last summer. His stock was high after a strong season in La Liga. However, his time in Italy might be shorter than expected.

Gian Piero Gasperini’s arrival as Roma’s new manager is a factor. Reports suggest he doesn’t see Dovbyk fitting into his tactical plans. While there’s no direct instruction for the player to leave, his style may not suit the new manager.

Roma’s asking price could derail transfer

Dovbyk is content in Rome, but a return to Spain is preferred over a Premier League move if he departs. Leeds United and West Ham United are keen. However, Roma’s €40 million asking price is considered too high right now.

Both clubs need a striker to strengthen their squads. Inter Milan’s Mehdi Taremi is also on their radar. They might seek alternatives if they can’t agree on Roma’s price or if the Serie A striker doesn’t want to move to England.

Leeds United are back in the Premier League. Their main goal is to stay in the top division. Daniel Farke wants to add a quality striker before the transfer window closes. Dovbyk remains a possibility.

West Ham United struggled for goals last season. It is no surprise they are targeting a new number nine. Patrik Schick has been mentioned as a potential option. Graham Potter will aim to bring in a player who can score goals and improve their chances.

Ultimately, Roma’s valuation of Artem Dovbyk will determine whether either Premier League side pursues a deal. The player’s preference for a return to Spain adds another layer of complexity to the potential transfer.
