Galatasaray finally ready to sell the €40m Brazilian midfielder Newcastle, Everton, Villa and Brighton all want

Gabriel Sara looks set to leave Galatasaray in January, and four Premier League clubs are already lining up for the Brazilian midfielder.
Newcastle, Everton, Aston Villa and Brighton have all been named as possible destinations for the 27-year-old, with Galatasaray now willing to talk about a sale.
That is a big shift. Over the summer the Turkish club had no interest in letting Sara go, despite plenty of attention from elsewhere. With the January window getting closer, their stance appears to have softened.
Who wants Gabriel Sara in January?
According to RTI Esporte, Newcastle, Everton, Aston Villa and Brighton have already expressed an interest in the former Norwich City midfielder. Fellow Brazilian outlet Terra has also reported that Sara will leave Galatasaray in the next window.
English interest is nothing new. Newcastle and Everton have been linked with him for some time, while Villa have their own history with the player. Back in May, RTI Esporte reported that Villa and Newcastle had both sent representatives to Istanbul to watch him in action.
Brighton are the newest name on the list, and there is less to go on about how far their interest has gone. Leeds United and Sunderland have also been mentioned as possible homes for Sara in the past, but neither club features in the latest report.
It isn’t only the Premier League either. Napoli and Roma are in the picture, with both Italian sides said to be in regular contact with his representatives to keep track of the situation.
How much will Sara cost?
Galatasaray are reportedly prepared to negotiate from €40m (£33.3m). Turkish reports, though, suggest €35m (£29.2m) could be enough to get a deal done.
That is a sizeable fee for a midfielder who was playing in the Championship not long ago. Sara spent two years at Norwich, establishing himself as one of the second tier’s standout midfielders, before moving to Istanbul in 2024. His development in Turkey has since drawn attention from several of Europe’s major leagues.
Aston Villa and Leeds were already circling Sara in the summer of 2025, so this is a player Premier League recruitment teams know well. The difference now is that Galatasaray appear ready to listen, which gives the interested clubs a concrete figure to work with.
Can Everton afford him?
A fee of €35m to €40m raises an obvious question on Merseyside. Everton’s need is clear enough, but the money is another matter after reports that their owners will only sanction loans and free transfers in January.
If that line holds, a permanent deal at Galatasaray’s price looks hard to see before the summer. Newcastle, who were in the race for Galatasaray right-back Wilfried Singo in the summer, may be better placed to move quickly.
Verdict: Sara is worth the Premier League gamble
A few weeks ago Turkish reports had Sara as close to untouchable. Now the Brazilian press say his exit is expected and there is a price on the table. That should encourage all four English clubs.
For me, he is the kind of signing that makes sense in January: a midfielder who already knows English football, at an age where he should be at his peak. There is still a long way between showing interest and paying what Galatasaray want, though, and with the Italian clubs watching too, whoever wants him will need to move early.
