Eduardo Conceição has opened up for the first time about the Premier League interest in him, with Newcastle having already submitted a formal offer, Arsenal among the first clubs to make contact and Chelsea now also in the picture for the 16-year-old Palmeiras attacker.
Speaking to Spanish outlet AS, Conceição was measured and grounded throughout, deflecting the noise around his future and keeping the focus squarely on what he can control. For a teenager with a £86m release clause and clubs from across Europe circling, that composure alone tells you something about the kind of player Palmeiras have developed.
What Eduardo Conceição said about the pressure and the hype
“The pressure is something natural for those who play for Palmeiras. We are used to dealing with it from a young age.”
When it comes to the transfer speculation specifically, he makes clear he prefers to stay away from it entirely.
“I admit I do not usually read the news about me. My daily goal is to be in the best possible condition to show my value on the pitch. My agent knows that I do not even like to keep up with what happens outside football.”
His family play a central role in keeping him anchored, he added: “They always remind me of the importance of keeping my feet on the ground.”
Endrick and Estevao as his inspiration
The players Conceição looks up to are not coincidental. Both Endrick and Estevao took exactly the same route he is now on, developing through Palmeiras before making high-profile moves to Europe. The connection runs even deeper given that one of his agents is Douglas Souza, the father of Endrick.
“Endrick and Estêvão are the biggest inspiration for all of us who are chasing our dream. I have followed their paths and I hope one day to do what they did for Palmeiras.”
“It is important to have someone close who has lived the experience of guiding his son to success. I can always learn from him.”
On the comparisons that inevitably follow a player of his age and profile, he is philosophical: “Everyone who is starting out has to get used to comparisons. It is incredible to be compared with successful players I admire, but my goal is to build my own path and show who Eduardo is.”
How Conceição describes his own style of play
This is where it gets particularly interesting for any club scouting him. Conceição draws direct comparisons between his game and two of the most exciting attacking talents in world football right now.
“I like one-on-one situations, dribbling and beating opponents with speed. I think my style is quite similar to Estêvão’s, although he is left-footed and I am right-footed.”
And then the Yamal comparison, entirely unprompted: “Yamal is a player with a similar style to mine, always looking for individual plays.”
He elaborates on his positional versatility too: “I have played most of the time on the left, but I can also play more centrally. On the pitch, I want to dribble and help the team with goals, either scoring or assisting.”
For Newcastle, Arsenal and Chelsea, a 16-year-old with that self-awareness, those influences and the mental composure to handle the pressure already building around him represents a genuinely compelling long-term investment. Palmeiras will not sell cheaply, but every month the interest grows, so does his price tag.
