Tottenham and Chelsea are once again circling the name of Vitor Roque.

The 19-year-old striker has rebuilt his form back home in Brazil, and now both London giants are seriously considering a move in January, according to a report from GOAL.

Roque’s time in Europe didn’t quite live up to the hype. After struggling to make an impression at Barcelona and failing to reignite things during a short loan at Real Betis, the Brazilian opted to return home to Palmeiras in early 2025. That decision looks to be paying off.

Under Abel Ferreira, Roque has looked sharp again, scoring 17 goals across all competitions this season. He’s added power, tactical pressing, and a touch of the clinical edge that first made him one of the hottest prospects in South America. He’s now just four goals shy of equalling his breakout 2023 tally with Athletico Paranaense, which led to that big-money move to the Camp Nou.

Spurs were one of the clubs who tried to hijack his move to Barcelona before eventually signing Dominic Solanke. But with uncertainty still surrounding their long-term striker situation, they’ve re-opened interest. Chelsea, as always, are also watching closely.

The GOAL report adds that informal contacts have already been made between the player’s camp and both Premier League clubs. But there’s a catch and a significant one.

Lets talk about money that Chelsea / Tottenham will have to offer for Vitor Roque

Palmeiras, who brought Roque back for €25 million (potentially rising to €30 million with bonuses), are not keen on selling. Not only that, but Roque himself is thought to be reluctant to leave Brazil in the short term. His goal? Cement a spot in the Brazil squad for the upcoming World Cup. For now, he sees staying put as the best route.

There’s no official release clause, but CIES Football Observatory estimate Roque’s current market value between €66m and €77m, a figure that would force both Tottenham and Chelsea to think carefully about their January budget.

West Ham were also loosely linked earlier in the year, but those rumours were quickly shut down.

For now, the situation remains in wait-and-watch mode. But if Roque keeps scoring, and Spurs or Chelsea decide to move quickly, we could be set for a Premier League battle for the former Barcelona man, again.
