Aston Villa are considering a late move for Liverpool midfielder Harvey Elliott ahead of the transfer deadline. The 22-year-old has emerged as a potential target following limited opportunities under new Reds boss Arne Slot, with both permanent and loan deals reportedly on the table.

Elliott has struggled for minutes this season following the arrival of Florian Wirtz, while the imminent signing of Alexander Isak is set to further reduce his first-team chances. The midfielder was an unused substitute in Liverpool’s win over Arsenal and only featured briefly in their previous outing at Newcastle.

Aston Villa, meanwhile, are said to be monitoring Elliott’s situation closely and could look to offload Emiliano Buendia to make space. The Midlands club are understood to favour a loan move, although Liverpool have set a valuation of £50 million for a permanent transfer.

Harvey Elliott open to Liverpool exit amid stalled game time

Elliott enjoyed a strong summer with England’s Under-21s but is facing a crucial career decision. Speaking recently, he admitted his love for Liverpool but acknowledged the need to prioritise regular football, especially with ambitions of making England’s World Cup squad.

“If I had my way, I’d be at Liverpool for the rest of my career,” he said. “But at the same time I kind of need to be selfish and see what’s best for me.”

The midfielder’s pathway has become increasingly blocked following the influx of new signings at Anfield. With the window closing soon, Elliott appears open to a temporary switch if it means securing more consistent minutes.

Liverpool closing in on Alexander Isak and assessing defensive options

While Elliott’s future remains uncertain, Liverpool are nearing a record-breaking deal for Newcastle striker Alexander Isak. The two clubs have agreed a £125 million fee after initial negotiations stalled earlier in the summer.

Isak’s arrival would bolster Liverpool’s attacking options but also intensify competition for places, indirectly influencing Elliott’s prospects. Elsewhere, the Reds are exploring defensive reinforcements with interest in Crystal Palace centre-back Marc Guehi.

Marc Guehi interest complicates Joe Gomez’s future

AC Milan have shown interest in Joe Gomez, but Liverpool are unlikely to sanction a sale unless they land Guehi before the deadline. Palace boss Oliver Glasner has made clear his reluctance to lose the England international, especially without an immediate replacement available.

“We have no chance to find the right replacement in one day,” Glasner said after Palace’s recent win. “We all agreed that we just sell Marc if we have the right replacement in the building.”

With less than 48 hours remaining in the window, Liverpool’s activity could still reshape their squad. For Elliott, a move to Villa could provide the platform he needs at this key stage in his development.
