Despite another disappointing loss in the Premier League, reports suggest that the Tottenham board will keep faith in manager Ange Postecoglou.
A 1-0 loss at Bournemouth saw Spurs drop to 10th in the league standings. While the 4-0 victory against Manchester City a few weeks ago will no doubt live long in the memories of the Tottenham supporters, fans are unhappy with the recent performances. The Lilywhites have lost to teams like Crystal Palace, Ipswich Town, and Bournemouth this season – games which an elite side should be winning.
However, Daniel Levy will reportedly not sack Postecoglou and give him more time. Although it is unacceptable for a team with the stature of Tottenham to be 10th, they are just three points away from Brighton and Hove Albion, who are fifth in the standings. A few positive results in the upcoming games will see Spurs back in contention for Champions League football.
Ange Postecoglou may be sacked if Tottenham Hotspur are still 10th after Christmas
While Postecoglou’s job is set to be safe for the time being, pundit Jamie O’Hara believes that the Australian could be sacked if Spurs are still 10th after Christmas.
“Daniel Levy is all about Champions League football, Europa League minimum. If Spurs are 10th in the table after Christmas, they will sack Ange. I’m telling you, they will sack him. This can’t continue.” O’Hara said.
Tottenham have a tricky fixture list for December, and their injury crisis makes it even more difficult for Postecoglou. Guglielmo Vicario, Micky van de Ven, Cristian Romero, Richarlison, and Ben Davies are injured, while Rodrigo Bentacur is serving a seven-match suspension for his recent comments.
With Spurs facing Chelsea, Liverpool, and Manchester United (EFL Cup) before Christmas, there is a serious possibility that Postecoglou won’t make it past December if O’Hara’s predictions are to be believed. However, with Tottenham, you never know what you’re getting. They’ll lose to Ipswich at home and then thrash Man City at the Etihad. Expect an unpredictable but entertaining run of matches in the coming weeks.
