Arsenal’s unlucky streak of picking up injuries during the international break continues as Leandro Trossard was subbed off in the first half against Israel in their Nations League clash on Sunday.
Trossard, who has featured in all but two of their games so far this season, was picked ahead of Belgium’s clashes against Italy and Israel. Having played the full 90 minutes in their 1-0 win against Italy on Thursday, he looked to gain the advantage and help fire his country back to winning ways.
Unfortunately, 37 minutes into the contest, Trossard was substituted after moving awkwardly for a considerable amount of time. Belgium manager Domenico Tedesco didn’t take any further chances and opted to take him off as a precaution. The manager did mention that the Arsenal attacker felt discomfort prior to the clash but decided to play. The context of his injury is yet to be known.
Arsenal’s Growing Injury Concerns
The Gunners haven’t had the opportunity to go full throttle this campaign, having been struck with tough fixtures, controversial refereeing decisions, and additionally, the consistent pile-up of injuries.
Arsenal went into the international break with injury concerns over the English duo Bukayo Saka and Declan Rice, while Riccardo Calafiori, Ben White, and Takehiro Tomiyasu are also out with injuries. Frequent injuries to players during international breaks have heightened concerns among Arsenal fans.
However, an added boost for the team is that of Arsenal captain Martin Ødegaard, who has just managed to return to full fitness for the Gunners after sustaining an injury for Norway in September during their Nations League clash against Austria. Mikel Arteta will be hopeful that the nature of Trossard’s injury isn’t something to be serious enough to cause long-term issues.
