Tottenham Hotspur forward Richarlison is set to be sidelined for a month after picking up a hamstring injury in the 4-1 win against Aston Villa last weekend.

It has been a tough season for the Brazilian, who has struggled with injury problems. The 27-year-old has made just five appearances and is yet to start a league game. After being sidelined for nearly two months, Richarlison made a positive comeback. He scored the winner in Spurs’ 1-0 Europa League victory over AZ Alkmaar and assisted from the bench against Villa. Unfortunately, the Tottenham number nine injured himself while assisting Dominic Solanke and faces another spell on the sidelines.

Richarlison has had injury problems with Tottenham since signing from Everton in 2022 for £50 million. In his debut campaign in the Tottenham whites, the forward missed two months due to injury. Last season, the Brazil international was sidelined for almost four months, and this season has already seen Richarlison miss three months.

Ange Postecoglou won’t be happy with the injury situation at the club. Three senior defenders, Micky van de Ven, Cristian Romero, and Djed Spence, are injured. Although Romero is doubtful for the fixture against Ipswich Town this weekend, Postecoglou has confirmed that he won’t be out too long.

With Tottenham competing in four competitions this season, having a large and fit squad is vital for success. When injuries occur, not only is the first team weaker, but the manager is forced to play some of his key players in midweek matches. This is not ideal as Postecoglou tends to rest his main eleven for cup and continental competitions, allowing the squad players to impress in the starting lineup.

Postecoglou will be happy with the international break occurring after the Ipswich game this weekend. It allows his key players to recuperate as they prepare for a tough match against Manchester City on November 23.
