Former Watford player Troy Deeney, now a BBC pundit, has picked two Leicester City players in his team of the week.

Despite Leicester losing 4-2 to Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium last weekend, two Foxes players were included in the team of the week, but surprisingly, there was no place for a Gunner. While the Foxes almost held on to a draw in London, it was a one-sided showing at the Emirates. Arsenal were by far the better team and could have easily had five or six goals before stoppage time had it not been for Mads Hermansen’s heroics in goal.

In his weekly BBC Sport column, Deeney described Hermansen’s performance against Arsenal as “one of the best” he has seen from a goalkeeper on a losing team. It certainly was a stellar game by the Denmark international, who made 13 saves (including nine from inside the box) and prevented an xG of 1.74.

“I know he was on the losing team but he made five world-class saves that kept Leicester in the game against Arsenal and gave them a chance of taking something from it. Honestly, it was one of the best performances I’ve seen from a goalkeeper on a losing team in my life.” Deeney wrote in his column.

The second inclusion from Leicester in his lineup was James Justin, who scored a brace, one of which was an outstanding first-time volley. While his defensive work was not great, his goals, coupled with Hermansen’s saves, did give Leicester a fighting chance of leaving London with a valuable point.

Deeney commended Justin’s technique: “I don’t remember him having much to do defensively, with all the troubles coming down Arsenal’s right. He then popped in the second half with a decent header for his first goal, while the volley he hit to equalise was unbelievable. So much could’ve gone wrong with that but the technique was excellent.”

This is the first time this season that a Leicester City player has been included in Deeney’s team of the week, and let’s hope the Foxes produce many more such notable performances.
