Following the closure of the 2024 summer transfer window, Arsenal confirmed that Reiss Nelson had joined Marco Silva’s Fulham on a season-long loan with no obligation to buy. Arsenal approved the deal after their recent signing of Raheem Sterling.

Reiss Nelson was subject to lots of transfer rumours throughout the transfer window, with clubs like Leicester City, Crystal Palace, and Ipswich Town expressing interest in his signature. This highlighted how highly he’s valued within the Premier League.

A good deal for both parties involved as Nelson gets a different setup to prove his ability and worth instead of being a backup to Saka for yet another season. In need of minutes and more exposure, Nelson joining Fulham is a positive deal.

Having been hailed as one of the most exciting talents from Hale End, Reiss Nelson hasn’t actually lived up to the expectations due to lots of reasons – injuries and competition have always slowed down his development at Arsenal.

This has led to Reiss getting valuable experience from loan spells away in Germany for Hoffenheim and in the Netherlands for Feyenoord, making the Fulham loan deal his third spell away from Arsenal.

Having made 90 appearances since his debut in the 2017 season, he’s managed to score 8 goals and bag 9 assists to his name. He has also been part of Arsenal’s 2020 FA Cup + Community Shield heist.

What would Reiss Nelson bring to Fulham?

Reiss Nelson is joining 2 of the other Hale End products already playing at Craven Cottage, namely Emile Smith Rowe and Alex Iwobi. Adding depth to Fulham’s attack, Reiss is a very good option for Silva to deploy in different game scenarios.

Reiss is known to be a tricky winger, always direct with the ball showcasing his filthy close control. He’s also a great team player and has a knack for finding passes and delivering crosses into the box, which could be crucial to creating for Muniz up front or even adding to his tally.

He can play on either wing for Fulham, taking defenders on per 90 minutes whilst also showcasing his dribbling and speedy legs. Capable of creating in isolation and demonstrating skills to move past dangerous situations. He brings in the work ethic to mold the side defensively thanks to his learning periods under different managers and setups.

Overall, a wonderful deal for Fulham to secure another creative force for the side to depend upon and provide them with stability on the flanks.
