With just over two weeks until deadline day, Arne Slot’s Liverpool are still the only team in the Premier League not to have made any new signings in the 2024 summer transfer window. The Reds were expected to be active this transfer window, but things didn’t go well for Arne Slot’s side. Martin Zubimendi’s rejection was a massive blow; however, Liverpool’s current priority seems to be signing a new goalkeeper.
According to reports, Liverpool are pushing to sign Valencia goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili in a surprise deal, with claims that the Reds have already had a bid rejected for the Georgian shot-stopper. This deal would see Giorgi Mamardashvili sign this summer before heading elsewhere on loan. AFC Bournemouth are open to taking him and after the loan spell, he would join Liverpool as Alisson’s long-term successor.
Liverpool have agreed personal terms with Giorgi Mamardashvili. He’s keen on the move even spending one or two years elsewhere on loan.
Bournemouth open to signing him, then he’d become #LFC new GK after Alisson.

Potential Move for Mamardashvili
As for Mamardashvili, the player is reportedly ‘ready to say yes’ to Liverpool this summer. Speaking exclusively to GiveMeSport, journalist Fabrizio Romano has provided an update, stating, “Mamardashvili, there will be one more meeting this week. There are contacts, very active contacts ongoing.
“It’s on Liverpool, basically. So, they need to decide what they want to do. They have this possibility. It’s on the table. It’s available.
“Mamardashvili is keen on a move to Liverpool, with a loan as the next step. So not going to Liverpool immediately, but being a future Liverpool player.”
“From what I’m hearing, Mamardashvili is ready to say yes to Liverpool, but going on loan for one or two years and then becoming number one after Alisson. That is a concrete possibility that Liverpool will consider.”
The 23-year-old stopper was one of the standout performers of Euro 2024, and signing Mamardashvili would likely signal succession planning for Alisson Becker’s eventual departure. Although Alisson’s contract with Liverpool runs until 2027, he isn’t expected to leave Anfield anytime soon. But signing Giorgi Mamardashvili now and allowing him to develop for a couple of years on loan before replacing Alisson could be a strategic move to secure the signing of one of the top goalkeepers before his price increases significantly.
