South Korea international Hwang In-beom. Hwang, currently playing for Olympiacos, has been generating interest in Greece, South Korea, and other European countries, and it seems that he may be on the move.

Premier League could be a potential destination for the 26-year-old midfielder, and he brings with himself a quite complement of both, playmaking ability and defensive reinforcement.

Hwang’s versatility is one of his key strengths. Playing in midfield allows him to adapt to various positions depending on the game situation and tempo.

He has shown his playmaking skills and ball control from deep midfield positions, gaining popularity during his time at Vancouver Whitecaps in the MLS.

Hwang then moved to Rubin Kazan in Russia, where he became a standout playmaker in the Russian Premier League. Despite his positive performances, he left Rubin Kazan following the suspension of his contract owing to a clause in his contract about the invasion of Ukraine and he returned to Korea to play for FC Seoul before joining Olympiacos.

His role with the national team helps us further understand his abilities – Hwang often plays as a supporting player in the number eight role for South Korea positioned behind players like Son Heung-min and Hwang Hee-chan. This is where his passing ability allows him to offensive layoffs time and time again.

Additionally, he can also adapt to a defensive role – dropping into the back five as an extra false center-back when off the ball. This versatility extends to his on-ball presence where he displays strong ball retention skills and the willingness to take on opponents. Instead of immediately passing to alleviate pressure, he keeps the ball moving and seeks to maintain possession before fulling the trigger where in increasing the space to work with for his teammates.

Hwang’s dependability and versatility in midfield positions, as well as his impressive ability to maintain possession and control the game, make him an appealing prospect. His durability and versatility as a player have been demonstrated by his exploits on the international stage, especially in the World Cup.

He might join Son Heung-min, another South Korean in the Premier League who plys his trade for Tottenham Hotspur, blessing the league with another solid player who can help out in a variety of ways.

Where is he linked to?

There are no reported links to the Premier League at the time of writing, although Hwang In-beom has been linked with a move to Inter Milan as well as Rangers, but he won’t come cheap. According to recent reports, Olympiakos value him at £13 million which could come in hefty for his suitors. Borussia Monchengladbach dropped interest in him following the massive fee quoted by Olympiakos.
