Tottenham Hotspur after winning the last game of the season against Norwich City have successfully secured their place in the top 4 in the Premier League and have guaranteed themselves Champions League football in the next season.

Now the main priority for Antonio Conte and the rest of the management at Hotspur Way lies in having a successful transfer market in the summer. They will look to sign some quality players from the market to build a more competitive squad for the UEFA champion league. One of the names that has been hummed around the Spurs camp is that of Ivan Perisic.

The 33-year-old Inter Milan winger has caught the attention of many top European clubs with some excellent performances in recent years while playing for Inter Milan. Ivan Perisic joined the inter side in 2015 and has been a reliable player for them ever since. Despite being loaned out for a year to Bayern Munich in 2019, Ivan Perisic didn’t get disheartened but he went on to duplicate his work rate and became the main guy for the Bundesliga champions. He was a crucial part of the Hansi Flick side who went on the become the second team ever to achieve a sextuple in a season.

After completing his duty for Bayern on loan Perisic returned to Inter Milan at the end of the season. In the 2020/21 Campaign for Inter Milan, Ivan Perisic played as a wing-back under Antonio Conte and performed outstandingly under the Italian manager. Inter Milan went on to win the Serie A the same year. It was Inter’s first league title since the 2009-10 season, ending Juventus’s nine-season-long league-winning streak.

In the 2021/22 campaign for Inter Milan, Perisic played 35 matches in which he scored 8 goals and provided a further seven layoffs.

Tottenham Hotspur are looking to set up a reunion of the Croatian Winger and his former gaffer. The possibility of the transfer is very high as Conte would love to have Perisic in the current Spurs squad.

In the words of Tuttosport, Antonio Conte would ‘gladly re-embrace’ his former player at his new club. That’s presumably because of his reinvigoration as a wing-back, which would see him fit perfectly into the system Conte employs.

Reports in Italy have said Perisic was demanding a three-year deal worth £100,000-a-week to stay at Inter. Spurs are unlikely to offer such a long contract but his wages are not viewed as prohibitive and, in any case, Conte has made it clear Spurs need around six new signings if they are to become Premier League title challengers.

As the contract of the Croatian is set to expire in the summer many other European clubs are eyeing buying him on a free transfer. Perisic has also been linked with a number of other clubs including Newcastle United and Chelsea, although the latter cannot negotiate with prospective new signings until the Todd-Boehly-led takeover of the club is completed.

As of today, Tottenham Hotspur are looking as the prime contender to win the race to sign Ivan Perisic alongside a possible Inter renewal.
