Massimiliano Allegri may have been at the helm of Juventus when they announced the deferred arrival of Aaron Ramsey, but the duo didn’t get to work together as the Italian was replaced by Maurizio Sarri that summer. The Welshman struggled to find his feet in Serie A which was subject to injury hassles and not fitting into the manager’s plans. A similar trend has continued for Aaron following Massimiliano Allegri’s return to the club.
It’s not a secret that Bianconeri’s are looking to offload Aaron Ramsey owing to his poor display complemented by the hefty wage bill he costs. The thirty-year-old earns €7million net per season, which makes him difficult to off-load. Many clubs wouldn’t care to afford such a wage bill for an aging midfielder struggling with injury and looking past his prime (bar Euros) – but of all, one club can; Newcastle United. The Tyneside underwent a major takeover with Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman now involved in taking Newcastle United back to its glory years. Many are frightened with the financial backing Newcastle have just received, and Juventus are looking to make the most out of this however they can.
Coming into the off-season, there are reports over Juventus considering to dispose of Aaron Ramsey, with the likes of Everton, West Ham, Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur, and Crystal Palace interested in bringing the midfield maestro back to England whiles Arsenal are also said to be discussing a possible comeback for their knight in shining armour. Nothing materialized then and Ramsey vetoed to stay put where he is and try and break into Juventus’ lineup under Allegri. It looked so for the first couple of appearances, though things have stagnated since and the Welshman is back in the market with a winter departure eyed by both the club as well as Aaron.
Calciomercato reported that Newcastle United are seriously considering a move for Aaron Ramsey, and the claims are then backed by multiple Italian outlets. The fact that he has enjoyed more minutes for his national team than for his club speaks alot about how things have fallen for him with the Old Lady, and his recent comments blaming Juventus’ medical staff have not gone well with the club as well as its fans.
Il Bianconero writing about Ramsey state that Newcastle are ‘in pole’ position to sign him this summer, while Tutto Juve state that Juventus ‘will do everything’ for the Welshman to join Newcastle. The general belief is that Aaron Ramsey could give his approval over the return to English football with Newcastle United’s “new and ambitious” project.
