According to Sky Italia, Tottenham Hotspur are thinking about selling Joe Hart to make way for the Atalanta goalkeeper Pierluigi Gollini. Spurs have been in talks with both the player as well as his club and the talks are said to be progressing well. While a report from Calcio Atalanta suggests that personal terms have been agreed with Gollini.
The Italian is being looked at as a potential replacement for Hugo Lloris who is entering into his final year on contract with Spurs and they even look at him as a backup goalkeeper or the 2nd choice goalkeeper till the time Hugo Lloris is at the club. This signing could provide a cushion to the Tottenham Hotspur management both ways.
But this deal could mean Joe Hart’s exit and that is exactly what Sky Italia is saying right now. Spurs are themselves keen to offload Joe Hart to make space for Gollini. They signed Joe Hart on a free transfer from Burnley in the previous summer so letting go Joe Hart would not create massive losses for Tottenham and in turn, they can invest in someone younger and a long-term prospect. Pierluigi Gollini fits the role perfectly.
But Spurs have competition from other clubs over the 26-year-old’s signature. Atletico Madrid are keenly looking at Pierluigi Gollini as a long-term replacement for their star keeper Jan Oblak. Many other clubs in Italy are also said to be interested in him. Tottenham Hotspur are hopeful of striking a deal of around £13 million for Gollini.
Gollini before moving to Atalanta played for Aston Villa in the Championship. He made nearly 20 appearances for them in the 2016-17 season after which he moved to Seria A. Pierluigi Gollini has kept 38 clean sheets in 112 appearances for Atalanta since his arrival on loan in 2017.
