Southampton have had a couple of players returning to first-team training earlier this week. Oriol Romeu, who has been out with an ankle injury in February was back. If he does make it back to the matchday squad it would be the first time since the return fixture between the two sides. The other player back in training was Jan Bednarek, who missed the last game owing to a knock on his heel but should be back for tomorrow. Hence, the only two absentees will be Ryan Bertrand and Will Smallbone, who are out with long-term injuries.

Marcelo Bielsa has decided to let two of his first-team players off for the rest of the season. Robin Koch and Mateusz Klich will both be rested for the remaining two games of the season in order for them to be available for national team selection for the upcoming Euros. Pablo Hernandez, on the other hand, returned to training and will be assessed ahead of the travel to Saint Mary’s Stadium.

RECENT FORM

Southampton’s recent Premier League form (W-W-L-D-L):

After failing to win in 5 consecutive games, the Saints have won two games in a row, both with the same score-line, i.e., 3-1. Their two strikers, Danny Ings and Che Adams have been in sublime form in recent games which will give them an added confidence in front of goal. The last win against Fulham was impressive, even if it was against a side that was already relegated.

Leeds United’s recent Premier League form (W-W-L-D-D):

Following a surprise victory over Manchester City, Leeds United suffered a sudden dip in form, with 3 draws and a loss. However, Marcelo Bielsa’s side has bounced back finely with back-to-back wins against Tottenham and Burnley. Both these times, the performances have been incredible, resulting in comprehensive results.
