Chelsea supporters from around the globe will wake up today feeling they should have bettered Real Madrid on Tuesday evening.

The Blues visited Estadio Alfredo Di Stefano in Champions League semi-finals clash, and under-fire Christian Pulisic gave them an early lead after slotting past former Chelsea goalie Thibaut Courtois. For the hosts, Karim Benzema’s equaliser proved to be decisive which also was Real’s only shot in target in 1-1 draw while Thomas Tuchel’s side convened five on Courtois’ goal.

One of them shots came momentarily before Pulisic’s goal when Chelsea’s summer signing Timo Werner fired a shot on goal from around four yards out and it was yet another poor finish from the German international as Courtois managed to keep it at bay with his legs. It was yet another miss in Timo Werner’s growing collection of misses, and considerably Chelsea faithful are growing frustrated with Timo.

His lack of composure in front of frame also managed to outrage Thiago Silva’s wife, Isabelle – who made her feelings towards Timo clear on instagram.

In a video uploaded on her account in the first half, Isabelle said: “This is karma, guys. Every team I go to there is a striker who keeps missing goals… this Werner, what is his name?”

And the first video was seconded with another shot on Chelsea’s error-prone forward: “We need a goal, we need to win this match but my attackers don’t want to score, I don’t know why they don’t score.”

And Isabelle wasn’t the only one to make her feelings known. Thomas Tuchel also voiced his frustration at Timo after another big miss which could possibly cost Chelsea the tie.

“He missed a big one at West Ham, now he missed another big one here, that does not help. But it also doesn’t help to cry about it or to regret it all the time. It’s like this, there are millions of people who have harder things to deal with than chances that you miss.

“So this is the good thing about sports, nobody cares tomorrow. Today, we were sad, angry in the moment, this is normal. He’s angry, he is disappointed, tomorrow he has a free day and the next day he has to put his chin up.

“He is a professional guy, he is a top guy, he works hard, he gets in the positions, and from there on we go. We will never stop pushing, we will never stop believing, I have the feeling that everybody accepts the situation like this. A striker is easy, you score the next game and nobody speaks,” said Tuchel in his post match press.

It’d be interesting to see how long Tuchel backs Werner, coz’ Chelsea fans are frustrated all season looking at Timo missing one big chance after another and have already raised their voices to start Olivier Giroud or Tammy Abraham up front!
