Sheffield United took the Premier League by storm last season and left everybody shell shocked. The players contributed their bit as Dean Henderson was the star performer of the team but Chris Wilder is the one who brought them to the prestigious top tier of English football once again.
It just goes to show that football can be a cruel game at times and a hero in one season could be an outcast in another. Chris Wilder had been in charge of the blades for over 200 games and won over 100 matches. During his time at the club, he managed to achieve two promotions and their highest ever finish in the Premier League. Paul Heckingbottom has taken over for the remainder of the season.
Chris Wilder and his Sheffield United side left teams in the dust by implementing a solid defensive structure and building their game on that. Their 3-5-2 formation worked like a charm and the overlapping centre-backs left teams utterly flabbergasted.
The technical finesse near the box was something that many coaches have lauded over the past and even though Sheffield United sits at the bottom of the table this season, this Blades side has given us many memorable moments. Even coaches like Jose Mourinho and Pep Guardiola have praised him for his innate footballing ideology and clarified that he is a much better coach than the results reflect this season.
Their star player Dean Henderson returning to his parent club along with a host of injury to some core players proved to be quite harmful to the team as they never managed to get any momentum together and Aaron Ramsdale hasn’t been able to fill the void that was left by the current Manchester United player.
Chris Wilder has reinvigorated this club and will always be remembered for that.
