Kevin De Bruyne, Romelu Lukaku, Declan Rice, Jamal Musiala, Nathan Ake, Tariq Lampety, and more- this is just a shortlist of players that Chelsea FC had in their ranks before letting them leave the Stamford Bridge; something they might have regretted later. According to me, another addition to this already worrying list for Chelsea could be American winger Christian Pulisic.
Pulisic arrived at Stamford Bridge at the start of last season, in a deal that was actually completed in the winter window. Pulisic’s first season can be rightly described as fairly overwhelming for someone of his age. Pulisic looked sharp, particularly after the restart period. The American winger scored 9 goals and provided 4 assists – most by any player 21 or under in the PL.
But it has gone all wrong for the American this season, due to injury and Chelsea’s squad depth which has limited his game time. As there was a change of managers, everyone expected Pulisic to play more often as Tuchel has already coached Christian at Dortmund. But it turns out that after 11 games, Pulisic is yet to start a single game.
Fabrizio Romano said via the Here we go podcast that Christian Pulisic could be “one of the candidates to leave this summer“. With a number of top clubs interested, this transfer looks decently likely, but in my opinion, it is one which Chelsea would heavily regret in 5 years’ time.
Pulisic is a top winger, extremely skillful, who possesses the ability to skip past defenders with ease and always has a decent finish in him too. Manchester City defender Joao Cancelo went as far as to say that the American is the toughest winger that he has faced!

Last season was a testimony of Pulisic’s abilities. Pulisic had more goals plus assists than any other PL player 21 or below. He had an extremely high number of dribbles with a good success rate. He won numerous penalties and free kicks in dangerous areas as well. Pulisic’s adaptation to a new and physical league now seems even more remarkable after seeing Timo Werner and Kai Havertz for Chelsea this season.
The clubs are interested in Pulisic range from Bayern Munich to Manchester United, which serves as testimony to the wingers’ potential. Chelsea could be heavily regretful if they let him go.
