Ighalo before leaving for China left a heartwarming message to the Red Devils fans on his Instagram handle.

Writing on Instagram, Ighalo said: “It’s so hard to see this dream come to an end. But I give God the glory for helping me fulfil this lifelong dream of putting on a Manchester United shirt as a player and represent this great club.”

“It was indeed an honour I will forever cherish and be grateful for.”

The Nigerian was instrumental for Manchester in their European campaign last season but an extension seemed unlikely for him in Manchester with Edinson Cavani around. And when asked about his exit back to China, Ighalo mentioned his willingness to be playing in America.

“Today, I’m in Manchester but at the end of the month, I don’t know where I’m going to be,” Ighalo told ESPN. “If it’s possible I’d like to stay here but if not I have to go.

“I have options. I wait for my agent. He is doing his job and I’m doing mine. At the end of the month, we have to decide what is best and we’ll take it. If it’s possible I’d like to play in MLS but I have to wait to see if it’s possible. …The league is doing well and if the opportunity arises then I’d grab it with two hands.”

The surprise signing of January 2020 has made a respectable and hearty exit from his favourite club. He scored 5 goals in 19 games for United while helping the team reach semi-final stages of FA Cup and Europa League.

We wish the Nigerian all the success going ahead in MLS or wherever he ends-up and hope that he continues his goal-scoring aptitude.
