Leeds United would look to welcome new players on loan as they are facing many injury concerns with their main defensive duo being side-lined due to short term injuries. With lots of speculation around the Leeds dressing room we should expect players to depart the club on loan while also welcome new players only on loan as signing a player in January would be difficult for the clubs as the country still remains in lockdown and therefore many clubs are still facing issues financially.
Tyler Roberts could be one of the Leeds players to go out on loan with Championship clubs like Bournemouth and Derby County who have come looking for him after a frustrating start in the Premier League. This season he has participated in 8 matches of the Premier League out of which he started only 2 matches. Last year in the Championship the attacking midfielder was one of the key players to help his team gain promotion. He made 23 appearances scoring contributing to 5 goals. But due to a coronavirus outbreak at Derby County, their training facilities have been shut temporarily as the first time squad has been told to isolate themselves while Derby will play their FA Cup fixture with U23’s and U18’s. Therefore a move in the coming few weeks to Derby for Tyler Roberts could be difficult.
Fikayo Tomori could be one of the players to arrive at Elland Road from Chelsea. The 23 year old defender has played only 1 match in the Premier League as Frank Lampard prefers the pairing of Silva-Zouma & Rudiger-Christensen at centre- back. The young defender could be a great addition to Bielsa’s defence as their main centre-back pairing are injury prone. With Robin Koch likely to return in March, while Liam Cooper could be back by the end of January and Diego Llorente who arrived from Real Sociedad still out with a groin injury. Luke Ayling who plays at right back but recently has been covering up for the injured players by playing centre-back alongside the youngster Pascal Struijk.
Although the Leeds fan have had their say on social media pages claiming that a centre-back and a midfielder should be a priority for Leeds this January window. But even a Julian Draxler transfer rumour could hype up the fans as Leeds look to strengthen their squad in depth.
Leeds will next face League Two side Crawley Town in the FA Cup Round-3 at the Peoples Pension Stadium.
