CalcioMercato claims that Arsenal and Torino have finally agreed a transfer fee for Lucas Torreira. The deal is believed to be a season long loan, with an obligation to make the move permanent next summer and it’s said to worth €24million (£22million) in total.
The deal has been hung on the outcome of Torino’s player Izzo, whose move to AS Roma is almost completed. While Torreira’s deal is down to the final details and is likely to go through in the coming days.
Arsenal are reportedly trying to make room for more summer signings through player’s sale. Thomas Partey and Lyon’s midfielder Aouar have both been strongly linked with Arsenal but lack of fund has made the realisation of these deals to solely rely on the funds to be gotten from some sales.
Emiliano Martinez have already completed a £20million move to Aston Villa, while Sokratis and Kolasinac have been rumoured to be attracting interests from top clubs, with Sokratis speculated to be closer to joining Napoli.
Fiorentina were strongly linked with the former Sampdoria defensive midfielder, but their inability to come up with a mouthwatering offer to match Torino’s deal, made the fellow Italian club side to lose out on the race for Lucas Torreira’s signing.
Arsenal’s manager Mikel Arteta obviously seems to have preferred Granit Xhaka and Dani Ceballos combination, which has yielded wonderful results, considering their late few matches leading to the FA Cup triumph over Chelsea.
Lucas Torreira looks to have fallen down the pecking order but now looks to be destined to get regular playing time elsewhere next season.
With Torino’s strong intent to get Torreira’s deal over the line, Arsenal would soon see the Uruguayan international midfielder leaving the Emirates in the coming days.
