Okay, I know what you are thinking right now! When the hell did Manchester United buy new player apart from Van De Beek? The answer to that is that they have and yet they haven’t.
Manchester United has completed the signings of two wonderkids Marc Jurado (16 years) & Alvaro Carreras from Barcelona and Real Madrid respectively. Marc is a right-back, whereas Alvaro is your left-back.
These are some excellent signings, especially for the future of the club, keeping in mind the growing influence of the modern-day full-back on the game. This is also reflected in the kind of money that is being paid for them in recent times.
Wan Bissaka and Ben Chilwell are perfect examples of how costly it can be to acquire some potentially great full-backs in this market. This also makes sense because full backs nowadays are more attacking and almost thought of as wingers in disguise.
Alvaro is your quintessential Real Madrid wing-back who is a decent crosser of the ball but has excellent composure on the ball and fancies himself a good dribble whenever he is given the opportunity. He loves going forward and indeed can even become a good winger or even a defensive midfielder.
Marc, on the other hand, has the la Masia genes in him and is an excellent passer of the ball. He also has great acceleration which helps him getter ahead with a lot of ease and finesse. Marc can also play as a makeshift Defensive midfielder which is just another great asset.
Both of them love to shower the long balls and make Crossfield passes to significant effect. Both of them are wonderkids at their respective clubs and Manchester is a fantastic place for their development as we already know that many youngsters are coming up from the ranks to make heads turn in the first team lineup.
This is a great piece of business by Manchester, and I hope that they can develop into world-class, full-backs over a period of time.
