Newcastle United and Aston Villa are reportedly read to go head to head this summer for the signature of Bournemouth forward Callum Wilson.
The striker has been the subject of interest from Premier League sides following the Cherries drop into the Sky Bet Championship.
Tottenham, Newcastle and Villa have all been credited with an interest in the England international but the latter two seem to be the serious once in the haunt for the player.
According to reports from Sky Sports, the Magpies and the Villans have held talks with the south coast club as they look to secure the signing of the player before the start of the 2020/21 campaign.
Steve Bruce’s side are understood to have offered the relegated side a cash deal plus Matt Ritchie for the 28-year-old, while Dean Smith’s side are also discussing the possibility of just a fee without any player involved.
Both clubs are keen to add a striker to their ranks ahead of the new Premier League season having seen a poor turn out from the forward’s last season.
Joelinton, who was brought in by Newcastle last summer failed to live up to his price tag during the 2019/20 – scoring just two goals in the Premier League while also adding two assists to his name in 38 appearances.
For Villa, their record signing Wesley was ruled out for the remainder of the just ended season after just 21 games. The Brazilian scored five times and added one assist in that time before suffering a season-ending injury.
Wilson joined Bournemouth in the summer of 2014 from Coventry City helping the club to earn promotion into the English top-flight in his maiden campaign with the Cherries (scoring 20 league goals that season).
After recording his highest goal tally in a single Premier League season during the 2018/19 campaign, the forward could only score seven times in 35 appearances the subsequent campaign as Bournemouth suffered relegation.
