Ever since Ben Chilwell’s move to Chelsea, a new debate has originated which as to who is the best left-back in London, Arsenal’s Kieran Tierney or Chelsea’s Ben Chilwell. Ben Chilwell has completed his move to the Stamford Bridge from Leicester City in a move worth around £50million.
Kieran Tierney had completed his switch from Celtic last season in a deal £25million deal and after struggling due to injury issues in the early part of the season he has made a comeback into the team and has made a mark on the team and the Premier League.
Talking about their goal contributions, none of them rates very highly being defenders as Chilwell has 6 goal contribution, three goals and three assists, in 2376 minutes while Tierney has twp gaols contributions, one goal and one assist in 993 minutes.
Ben Chilwell showcases his superiority in terms of passing as he is providing 1.3 key passes per game while Tierney is only mustering up 0.4 key passes per game. Chilwell is laying on 63.1 passes per game while Tierney is making 29.4 passes per game, the Scottish international how tips his English counterpart as he has a higher succesful pass rate with 78.5% which just tips Chilwell who’s at 78.3%.
Talking about their defensive game, Chilwell is averaging 1.6 tackles per game while Tierney is only making 1.3 succesful tackles per game. The former Leicester City man also tips Tierney in terms of interceptions and blocks as he is making a combined of 3.6 tackles and interceptions, with 1.6 interceptions and 2 clearances, while Tierney is making a combined of 2.6 interceptions and clearances, with 1.6 interceptions and 2 clearances, per game.
It won’t be wrong to claim that Ben Chilwell is performing at the high level than his Arsenal counterpart, however, we’re discussing two left-backs with potential to be world-class.
