As per Birmingham Mail, Aston Villa are set to bid £30million for Celtic’s forward Odsonne Edouard.

Few Premier league clubs were reportedly after the Frenchman’s signature considering his superlative all-round performances during last campaign.

Arsenal, Crystal Palace and Newcastle have all been speculated to be highly interested in Edouard, especially the Gunners who had previously lured Kieran Tierney away from the Scottish league giant for just £25million.

Edouard was seen has a quality replacement for his compatriot Lacazette, whom have constantly been rumoured to be on his way out of Arsenal, with interests from Juventus and Atletico Madrid gaining ground daily.

Odsonne Edouard is said to be valued at around £25million, which was the same amount Celtic got from the sale of Kieran Tierney last summer.

During the last campaign, Edouard scored 27 goals and provided an astonishing 19 assists in 45 appearances across all competitions.

Former Parkhead favourite Chris Sutton made an assertion that the young Frenchman Edouard is club’s best striker since Henrik Larsson and the Celtic legend believes his old club should demand as much as £40million for their top goalscorer.

Chris Sutton wrote for the Daily Record around February 2020, where he analysed how £40 million is a realistic sales figure for Edouard, as he revealed that: “These are the figures which are being spent and that puts the Celtic striker into that bracket easily.

“There’s no middle club needed. The days of Virgil van Dijk needing to prove himself at Southampton before getting to Liverpool are gone. Moussa Dembele to Lyon and Kieran Tierney to Arsenal are proof of that after the Dutch defender did their groundwork.

“Edouard has got almost everything. At the age of 22, there is a decade at the highest level waiting for him. His finishing is sublime, his link-up play and touch is marvellous and his feet are silky smooth. If I had one criticism, he doesn’t do enough in the air, but he compensates for that in other areas.”

He added: “Edouard is doing what he’s doing at the moment at the age of just 22. Imagine what he’ll be like with another three years of development and progression under his belt. It’s scary.”

Aston Villa would do themselves a lot good if they can possibly convince the Celtic forward to join them this summer, as the club would be confident of boasting a striker who could singlehandedly turn a game into his team’s favour.

There’s definitely no doubt about Edouard’s potential nor should there be much concern about his adaptation as he’s still very young to adapt and learn new things.

Villa narrowly survived relegation last campaign and a move for Edouard will hugely complement the quality of Villa’s midfielders such as Jack Grealish, Douglas Costa and the likes, whom have been lacking a quality striker that could effortlessly convert their chances into a goal.

Considering Villa’s plan to boost their squad this summer, the capture of Odsonne Edouard will undoubtedly be a great achievement by the club.
