Premier League duo Arsenal and Chelsea are both keen on signing Real Madrid left-back Sergio Reguilon this summer.
The Spanish player is currently on loan at Sevilla where his performances have been to good to ignore his his impact at the club. In fact, his brilliant displays has been the rationale behind his presence in the media headline for the last few weeks across Europe.
Reguilon has also been linked with a move to Italian side Napoli but the Serie A side are only interested in signing the defender on a season-long loan. However, the Spanish giants are looking to sell the player for around £20 million in the summer transfer window as they look to raise funds through player sales.
Should Madrid also decide to ship him out on loan, his current club are touted as the favourites to keep him, as he is said to be happy in Seville. But Spanish outlet AS report that, the Gunners and the Blues have the edge over both Sevilla and Napoli, with the English club willing to sign him on a permanent deal.
The publication also suggests that Madrid could try to include in any move away from the Santiago Bernabeu an option to buy back the 23-year-old when they need him in the future.
Frank Lampard’s side are in the transfer market for a left-back with the club likely to move on one for Emerson Palmieri or Marcos Alonso.
With Leicester City refusing to budge on their £80 million valuation of Ben Chilwell, the Blues are exploiting other alternatives who may come at a cheaper price, with Reguilon among their targets.
Reguilon was involved in 31 games for Julen Lopetegui’s side in the Spanish top flight, scoring two times and assisting on four occasions as the club sealed a fourth place finish.
