Manchester United youngster Tahith Chong is set for a loan spell away from the club after Ole Gunnar Solskjaer approval.

The player has been strongly linked with a loan move to Bundesliga side Werder Bremen ahead of the 2020/21 campaign, and Solskjaer is said to be happy to see the winger go out to enjoy enough playing time.

United rewarded the 20-year-old with a new contract back in March, signing a new two-year deal at Old Trafford but lack of playing time at United has seen him requested to be sent on loan with the Bundesliga side keen on his services.

And per the words of the players agent Erkan Alkan, the Norwegian coach has given the green light for Chong to join Bremen.

“Mr Solskjaer kept his promise from March and told Tahith that he can leave the club,” the agent told German publication Bild. “The boy really wants to go to Werder. He wants to be part of the preparation as soon as possible so that he can quickly find his way around.”

Frank Baumann who serves as the German outfit’s sporting director has already confirmed their interest in the Netherlands international.

He told Weser Kurier: “He is very fast, he comes in from the wing – he fits our profile. He has speed and dribbling well. That makes it exciting for us. He’s a player to deal with. We can add two or three more players. Borrowing guys from top clubs like this can make sense to us. Because of our situation, he’s a player who could be interesting.”

Despite Chong’s limited playing time, he is part of the Red Devils squad in Germany, who are looking to secure this season’s Europa League title.

He made a cameo against LASK in the last-16 second leg encounter at Old Trafford but was an unused substitute in the extra time win over Copenhagen last Monday.
