Manchester United and Inter Milan have reportedly reached an agreement over the permanent signing of Alexis Sanchez in the summer window.
Sanchez has been on loan at the Italian side during the 2019/20 campaign, where he has massively been involved after the league’s restart in June.
Inter are keen on striking a deal with the Red Devils to sign the Chile international permanently with Guissepe Marotta confirming their interest recently.
However, Corriere della Sera reports that a deal is closed to being finalised after weeks of negotiations without a breakthrough from either side.
United are looking to receive at least £15 million from the sale of the 31-year-old, who arrived at Old Trafford during the 2018 winter window in a move which saw Henrikh Mkhitaryan move to Arsenal.
Antonio Conte’s side will also hand over £13.5m for Sanchez, with an announcement expected to be made after Wednesday’s Europa League last-16 tie with Getafe.
While on loan at Inter, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side are reportedly to be paying the majority of the 31-year-old’s £50,000-a-week wages during his season at San Siro.
Sanchez’s time at Old Trafford was retarded due to reoccurring injury concerns and poor form of run for the majority of the season which left the boss unconvinced.
And the two-time Copa America winner was moved on loan to Italy during last summer’s transfer window, joining former teammate at United Romelu Lukaku.
The former Arsenal forward has been involved in 12 goals in the Serie A with 10 coming after the league resumed in June – scoring three and creating 10 assists.
His sale would be vital for United, who are also pressing forward with their plans for new additions to the squad ahead of the 2020/21 season. Champions League qualification means that the Red Devils will be in need of squad depth and that is what Solskjaer is pursuing this summer.
