Crystal Palace have made it known that they are now ready to sell Wilfried Zaha this summer.
Palace manager Roy Hodgson reveals that Zaha still remains determined for a move away from Selhurst Park. He said: “Wilf has made it clear ever since I came to the club, really, that he would like to move on and find some pastures new. But of course he is a very valuable player and the club realises his value.
“Everything will depend on what sort of offers the club receives for him. Or maybe we satisfy his wishes and allow him to go after giving good service to the club for a period of time. Quite frankly I have no answer… it will be a matter of seeing what transpires.”
This revelation has comes after the Ivorian international winger tried to push his way out of Palace just 12 months ago, especially with Arsenal being adamant to secure his services but Palace reluctance to lower their £80million valuation proved to be the major hindrance, which resulted in a failed attempt for the Gunners.
Joining Crystal Palace at the age of 12, Zaha was promoted into Crystal Palace first team from their academy in 2010 before he signed for Manchester United for an initial fee of £10 million in January 2013, which eventually was Alex Ferguson’s last transfer before his retirement at the end of that season.
Though he had an unsuccessful spell at Manchester United after barely impressing the then manager David Moyes, which prompted him to return to Crystal Palace on a season long loan deal in August 2014.
Upon his arrival at his boyhood club, he soon rediscovered his form and his move to Palace was eventually made permanent, signing a five-and-a-half-year contract for an undisclosed fee, which is believed to be around £3million, rising to £6million with add-ons; coupled with the Red Devils receiving a percentage from any future sale by Palace.
Since the wing wizard returned to Crystal Palace, he has continued to be one of their most prized asset alongside his consistent displays of his qualities; which now makes him a player who’s is overdue to go to a more stronger top team.
Considering the pandemic affect of club’s finances, Crystal Palace would have benefited more from his sale if they had agreed a considerably lower transfer move to Arsenal last season, but with the unfortunate impact of the pandemic, Palace will now have to consider a more realistic fee from any of his latest suitors during the summer transfer window.
