Porto are reportedly holding out a fee in the region of £36 million for Danilo Pereira with the Gunners said to be keen on acquiring his services for next season.
The Portugal international was said to have issued a come-and-get-me plea earlier in the week following his admission that he is a big fan of the north London club’s boss.
Manchester United is another of the Premier League clubs who registered interest in the 28-year-old in the past and were said to have approached the Portuguese club.
Pereira has been with Porto since 2015 and currently has two years left on his deal with the 2019/20 top-flight champions.
The 28-year-old was rumoured to have a release clause in his deal which was said to be around £54 million, but Jornal de Noticias of Portugal have claimed the midfielder will be made available for nearly £20 million short of the reported fee in the clause.
Arsenal are expected to be quite busy in the summer transfer window as they look to strengthen their squad for the upcoming season. A holding midfielder is said to be on the card for Arteta, who is looking to spice up his squad in order to provide competition for Lucas Toreira, Matteo Guendouzi and Granit Xhaka.
For Guendouzi, his future at the Emirates Stadium looks shaky and could be offloaded in the summer, which could see Pereira take up his place.
Pereira made 38 appearances across all for Porto in the 2019/20 season, scoring two goals and providing one assist as Porto won the Portuguese league with one game left to be played.
