According to recent reports, Dean Henderson wants to be assured of a place in Manchester United’s first team before committing his long term future to the club.

The United goalkeeper is looking to stay at Old Trafford if the club will assure him of the number one spot.

Dean Henderson has had a stellar campaign on loan at Sheffield United, where he has amassed 13 clean sheets during the 2019/20 Premier League season. His performances with Chris Wilder’s team have led to speculations of a permanent move away from Manchester United in the summer transfer window.

The 23-year-old is believed to have his eyes set on displacing David de Gea as the Red Devils first choice goalkeeper when he returns to the club for the 2020/21 season, per reports from The Times.

David de Gea has come under the limelight for all the bad reasons on many occasions this season. His recent performance against Chelsea in the FA Cup semi-final defeat was just the latest of his unacceptable performances at the club.

He allowed a feeble effort from Mason Mount slip through his hands just minutes after the second half had started to give the Blues a two goal lead before the game ended 1-3.

Henderson spent last season on loan with the Blades in the Sky Bet Championship where they ended up securing promotion to the English top-flight. The shot-stopper believes he has done more than enough to deserve a starting place in Ole gunner Solskjaer’s team with the kind of performances he has put up at the Bramall Lane.

However, should he not receive any backing or assurances from the Red Devils be is likely to opt for another loan spell away from Old Trafford next season.

Frank Lampard’s side are said to be monitoring the player ahead of an approach in the summer as they look to replace Kepa Arrizabalaga.
