Juventus’s head coach Maurizio Sarri wants a reunion with his former Napoli and Chelsea player Jorginho according to reports from Calciomercato, after Frank Lampard has snubbed the midfielder for the 5th time this campaign.
Two years after his arrival from Napoli, Jorginho could heading out of Chelsea and his old mentor wants him back in Italy with The Old Lady. The former Verona midfielder has failed to play even a single minute of competitive football after the restart of the league. He was left on the bench for the games against Manchester City, West Ham and Watford in the league and Leicester in the FA Cup with Lampard preferring to give young Billy Gilmour more opportunities.
After a tough debut campaign, Jorginho has stood out to be one of the best players in the league. He has to contributed to 6 goals and 2 assists in all competitions with his tackles&interceptions rising from 3.8 to 4.4. He was also appointed as the vice-captain of The Blues after the departures of senior players Hazard & Cahill.
Since Sarri’s appointment as Juventus’s new head coach last summer, Jorginho has been linked to Turin club and Fabio Paratici considers him to be the perfect replacement for outgoing Miralem Pjanić. Jorginho wants to start playing regularly again in order to secure a place in his national team’s squad for EUROS 2021.
The Blues are wiling to listen to offers in the region of €50 million but when asked about the midfielder’s future at the club Frank Lampard said “Jorginho is in my plans”.
It remains to be seen whether he can earn a place in the match squad against Crystal Palace especially with Ross Barkley in great form and Ruben Loftus-Cheek has started to play regularly after his comeback from injury.
