Inter Milan are considering Alexis Sanchez’s loan move from Manchester United a permanent one in the summer as they look to buy him for €20 million.
United confirmed the winger will continue with Antonio Conte’s team until the beginning of August, having extended his loan for the remainder of the 2019/20 Serie A season.
The Chile international was due a return England on June 30 and though a deal to extend his stay had been agreed, the player is not expected to feature in the Europa league for Inter should they advance into the next stage.
Sanchez will also be ineligible to play for the Red Devils in the competition should he return during the expected date that was agreed on, with the club not willing to risk him being injured as they plan to cash in on him in the summer transfer window.
The 31-year-old joined the Italian side in the summer having failed to build on the noise around his transfer, battling with injuries and poor performances during his time at Old Trafford.
At Inter, though he has been a shadow of himself, reports say Conte is impressed with the attitude of the former Arsenal forward.
Sanchez was involved in Inter’s 6-0 win over Brescia in midweek, scoring one and bagging two assists for the home side.
Per reports from Goal on Friday, the Italian side are now willing to sign the player permanently for a fee in the region of €20 million.
With Lautaro Martinez heavily linked with a move to Barcelona, the permanent signing of Sanchez would provide another option in attack for Conte as they look to battle Juventus next season for the Serie A title.
Goal also reports that a ‘gentleman’s agreement’ had been in place for the Nerazzurri to sign the ex-Barca man for €25 million although the club are now confident of poaching him for a deal €5 million less.
